Spanish American War Memorial

Erected in 1937 or 27 (HAC book), according to the designs of Evelyn Batchelder Longman, it commemorates the "valor and patriotism of the Hartford men who served their country" in the Spanish-American War 1898-99. Note the oversized feet to keep the forward-leaning statue of Nike, the Greek Goddess of War, standing upright.
